The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Episode 1 : Size Does Matter | TUF 10 Episode 1 Recap and Video

TUF 10 EPISODE 1

"In UFC history, I don't think our heavyweight division is ever been exciting as it is now. Season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter will be looking for some new guys to make it even more exciting."
- Dana White
UFC President

Who say's size doesn't matter? Well let's see if it does in UFC. It's time for the "Heavyweights" this TUF Season 10. Among the fighters included in this season are 4 former NFL players and three fierce UFC's best. Season 10 seems to be more exciting than previous series because "The King Of Street Fighting" is now in the UFC. Kimbo Slice is expected to bring excitement in the Octagon once he won in the TUF.

Rashad Evans is the coach of "Team Rashad" and Quinton Jackson is the coach of "Team Rampage" in this tenth installment of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

Rashad and Rampage were talking to each other while they were seating inside the TUF Training center. Of course, they were taunting each other. Rashad told Rampage that he is too slow fighter, but I don't think they take it personally. It's just a show but Rampage is really funny here.

And then the fighters showed up. Rampage and Rashad were a little bit surprise when they saw the fighters, most especially to Wes Shivers and Marcus Jones. Jones is the former NFL No. 1 Draft Pick.

"What the hell?" Rampage whispered.

The fighters were lined up with Team Rashad and Team Rampage. There were fifteen fighters until Dana White introduced the 16th fighter in this season. It's none other than Kimbo Slice!

Roy Nelson is a little bit disappointed for he thought that Dana will introduced him as the special fighter in this season because he is a former IFL Champion. Rampage likes Kimbo so much. As what he said he's a fan of Kimbo. He told Rashad that he will pick Kimbo. Well, Rashad doesn't have any interest on Kimbo.

The fighters were now divided and were train separately with Rashad and Rampage for evaluations. Rashad is confident on his team because he had Greg Jackson who is one of the best trainer in MMA. Rampage doesn't like Roy Nelson. For him, he is not the "Big Country" but a man with the "Big Belly." "He's fat..." Rampage said. Nelson said that Rampage doesn't know how to evaluate who's the real fighter and who's not. Rampage saw Kimbo, and he can say that he'd rather have Kimbo because Kimbo has a good takedown defense.

After the evaluation, Dana flipped a coin. The winner of the coin toss chooses to either pick the first fighter and Rashad wins the coin toss. Rashad chose James McSweeney as his first pick. Of course, Rampage picked Kimbo first. "Do I spell your name right?" Rampage asked to Kimbo. Brendan Schaub was Rashad's second choice while Abe Wagner is Rampage's second choice. The third set of fighters are Justin Wren for Rashad and Demico Rogers for Rampage. Fourth set of fighters are Jon Madsen for Rashad and Wes Sims for Rampage. Fifth set of fighters are Roy Nelson for Rashad and Scott Junk for Rampage. Sixth set of fighters are Darrill Schoonover for Rashad and Wes Shivers for Rampage. Seventh set of fighters are Matt Mitrione for Rashad and Marcus Jones for Rampage. The final set of players are Mike Wessel for Rashad and Zak Jensen for Rampage.

When West Sims was called, he complained to Rampage. He said he should be his first choice so to settle his complaint he just wanted to stay beside Kimbo.

Rampage said that he has a bigger team. "Size does matter..." Rampage said.

Training session started the next day. Jones is the biggest guy and Rampage thought he will be one of the toughest guy on his team but during their training, he saw how hard it is for Jones to take those exercises.

After the training session, Rampage announced the first fight match up: Jon Madsen vs Abe Wagner. Rashad just laughed at him. He knows that Madsen will definitely win because Wagner doesn't have any ground game at all. Madsen said that he doesn't believe on Rampage's quotation that size does matter. For Madsen it's quickness, strength, power, and agility that matters than size.

"Size doesn't mean anything," Madsen said.

The first fight in TUF Season 10 have just started. The referee in this game is Steve Mazzagatti. Since Madsen knows that Wagner doesnt have any ground game at all. He take him down. Wagner received a lot of punches from Madsen that created a gash on his head. It's really bloody round 1. As what Dana said, it was the bloodiest among all fighters he have ever seen. Wagner can't reverse the takedown in round 1 and even in round 2. The blood keeps on oozing from his head but he didn't gave up. Madsen remains dominant in the second round. I pitied Wagner. He doesn't seem to be a fighter. He doesn't know how to do reverse the takedown or at don't know how to do the takedown defense. And after two rounds of fighting, Madsen was declared winner via unanimous decision. Wagner received a gash on his head and the medic said that this is deep enough that he can see his skull. Owww....
