Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La hoya introduced Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. during the "Mayweather vs Marquez" post-fight press conference held at MGM Grand last September 19, 2009. Floyd Mayweather Jr. was humble, calm, and professional in this conference. Mayweather thanked his fans and his team. He said that Juan Manuel Marquez is a tough Mexican warrior. He said that there is a lot of great fighters on the stage and to be the best you got to be the best fighter on your air and not by weight classes. He also said that he just take his time, go to gym, work hard, and be the best he can be. He also discussed about the second round where he dropped Marquez with a hook but he said that Marquez is just really tough. Mayweather said that he respect Marquez and his trainer, and all other boxers. He then thanked the media, writers, sponsors, all of the fans who came off from Michigan, all who make noise about the fight, and to all who supported him.

He was asked by a reporter if he is ready with Shane Mosley. Mayweather said that Mosley has an upcoming fight and he wish him all the best. He was then asked about Manny Pacquiao. He said that Pacquiao is going to face Miguel Cotto and he said that may the best man win. He was then asked on how he is going to rate his fight with Marquez. Mayweather said that he doesn't want to rate his fight with Marquez as one of his best fights because he think he could have done better. He said that he don't want to rate himself as a fighter because he knows who he is as a person and as a fighter. He said that Pacquiao is a No. 1 fighter but all he can say is that he is a sixth time world champion for ten years in 5 different weight class, never won in a vacant title, retire for two years, and then came back and won in the number two guy (Marquez). He also discussed about his weight. He said that he woke up with 145 1/2 so what he did is he jogged for 20 minutes.

Mayweather is not yet sure who will be his next opponent. One reporter asked if he can be more specific of what was rusty because earlier Mayweather said that he is rusty upon his return. The reporter said that he doesn't look rusty. Mayweather smiled, "Thank you, I appreciate it... I thought I was a little rusty." He was also asked if he think that Marquez was seriously hurt when he knocked him down in the second round. Mayweather said that he gave a good shot but Marquez is really sharp and smart and was able to come back after the knockdown. He said that he tried jump right back on but he is still fighting hard so he said to himself that he will just take his time.

Another reporter asked him again about his future opponents but Mayweather said that everybody asked him the same thing in a thousand different ways and he wants to tell again the same thing that even though everybody wants to fight with him, he said that he can't really fight everybody and he could just take it one at a time.

Another writer asked him about his IRS tax debt which make him a little bit annoyed. This writer said that according to USA Today, Oscar de la Hoya paid his 6 million dollar IRS tax debt that's why he had a deal with Oscar and came back to his boxing career. Well, Mayweather said, "Sorry I don't know what you're talking about sir,anymore questions?" Some laughed about it and then Mayweather added, "I'm not worried... I'm not about on your personal business, why you're about on my personal business."
